Record sales for luxury homes in Greece
Record sales for luxury homes in Athen , lie in the center of global real estate market’s attention. Numbers, which even exceeded 22,000 euros per square meter, for the very expensive part of the much-discussed Athenian Riviera, caught the luxury housing market in our country in the midst of a pandemic, in 2021, with Greece climbing higher for the first time in the lists of Europeans as well as Americans for the purchase of luxury homes.
According to Sotheby’s International Realty, which handles sales of some of the world’s most expensive real estate, the recent report on the market outlook “Luxury Outlook 2022” in 2021 overall “exceeded expectations for the luxury market of housing at a global level”.
The President and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty, Mr. Philip White Jr., ranks Greece internationally among the countries with the greatest increase in demand in the group’s network:
“Internationally, areas such as Sydney in Australia, Greece and the French Riviera have seen an increase in interest from buyers, including foreign investors,” it says in the analysis of the market outlook in 2022.
According to Sotheby’s, a large portion of the “expensive” buyers are now, at this juncture, returning to the big cities with the gradual transition again from telecommuting to the office, while maintaining the desire born in the midst of a pandemic for a better quality of life.
